Homer Watson House & Gallery is pleased to host the Annual Homer Watson Exhibition: Stormy Skies, featuring the work of Homer Watson, Roger Young, and The Art District Gallery.
“When you put your hand in a flowing stream, you touch the last that has gone before and the first of what is still to come”, Leonardo da Vinci.
This idea of the basic element of life and the movement through time is inspiration for our summer exhibitions.
Although the Canadian landscape is the predominant theme and subject matter for Homer Watson, a closer look reveals water is a key element of his compositional design. Watson captures our relationship with water in everyday life by placing the element in a subtle but obvious manner, often becoming the center of attention as a direct result of nature’s storms.
The Lens is My Brush, an exhibition of the work by Roger Young, is a solo exhibition of photography that highlights and contrasts Watson’s work, as Young explores the same element of water. The interplay of light and water over the seasons and environmental conditions in relation to the medium of photography and himself as the individual photographer, is the main thrust of this work.
Elemental is an exhibit by the artists of The Art District Gallery. While water sustains life, it is how we live and interact with life that is meaningful. This exhibit demonstrates how we react to the elements of living, through our own unique perspective.
Coinciding with the opening reception of the Annual Homer Watson Exhibition, we are pleased to host our Annual General Meeting. An informal artist lecture will take place along with a recap of Gallery operations from 2017. Gallery staff will be on hand for house tours and light refreshments will be served.
Exhibition Dates: June 10 – August 12, 2018
Free to members & guests
